Types of Loft Conversions

  • Basic Loft Conversion

Converting your existing loft space without changing the shape of your property. The addition of Velux roof windows gives natural light and ventilation.

  • Box Dormer Loft Conversion

A box dormer is an extension to the roof, usually to the rear of the property. This is achieved by removing a section or the whole of the roof and building outwards creating a flat roof, with sides (cheeks) at a 90° angle. This maximises the head height of the area and increases the internal loft space, as illustrated.

  • Mansard Loft Conversion

This is a different style of a box dormer with the dormer cheeks built out at an angle in brickwork. These are usually constructed in the London area to match existing conversions near-by.

  • Hip to Gable Conversion

Altering the hip end of a roof to a gable is achieved by extending the ridge line of the roof to the full width of the property. This creates full height headroom for the whole width of the property.

  • Truss Roof Loft Conversion

Removing the trusses opens up the internal space in the loft space, allowing the area to be converted. This is achieved by strengthening the roof rafters and inserting new joists.

  • Pitched Roof Dormer Loft Conversion

This style of dormer has a pitched roof, usually the pitch is the same angle as the existing roof of the house.

  • DIY Conversion

We will undertake all the structural elements of the conversion, leaving you to complete the work. This is a good alternative for those with a limited budget and the DIY ability to undertake aspects of the work. The planning and preparation for these projects is essential and we are happy to help with this, as well as offering a back up package to help you complete the conversion.

  • Open Plan It

We have many years experience of what is needed to ‘open up’ areas in the whole of your home. It is essential to plan structurally when removing walls and load bearing divisions. We are also experienced in garage conversions and the construction of timber garden rooms.
